Do you have a book that changed your world, that blew your socks, knickers, glassess off ? Is there one book that changed the way you read? That influenced the type of reader you are now?

Mine is Sexing the Cherry by Jeanette Winterson, I loved it without reserve. There is no structure and there are no rules. Jordan is a genderless narrator, his adoptive mother The Dog Woman a fearful, soft hearted quasi-monster. They inhabit 17th century London in a house without walls and a universe with an ability to move , time travel and shape shift. It is a love story without convention and blandness. It opened my eyes to the beauty of language while re-enforcing my growing belief that things do not have to be so obvious or straightforward. HOWEVER, I am afraid to re-read this now in case it’s potency (for me) is lessened! I have friends who have read it and matched my love with their hate for it! Yet the more I think about this, the closer I am to re-aquainting myself with Ms Winterson’s cherry!
I think this would make for a great book club discussion, so tell me who rocked your world? Deep breath now…..
